No voices can be heard during a conference

If you have joined a conference already in progress and cannot hear any voices, the following causes are likely:

Incorrect audio device selected

Go to the control panel: Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Sound, Speech, Audio Devices -> Sounds and Audio Devices.

Audio settings window will open. Click "Audio" tab to make sure the default device in "Sound playback" or "Sound recording" matches your actual audio card to which your speakers and microphone are connected.

If necessary, change the default audio playback device and click "OK".

Audio volume is muted or too low

To access the volume control: Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume Control.

Make sure that volume control for the proper audio device is displayed. Go to Parameters -> Properties and make sure the proper audio device to which your speakers and microphone are connected is selected in the drop-down list.

If necessary, change the selected device and click "OK".

Go to the volume control window and make sure your audio device volume is not muted and not too low.

If your audio device is muted, unmute it. If your audio device's volume is too low, adjust it with the volume control slider.

Port used by Rostelecom for data transfer may be blocked

If a port used by Rostelecom for data transfer is blocked, the system cannot establish a direct connection and is forced to reroute data packets. Due to the longer data travel time and increased data losses, resulting audio quality can suffer. Please contact your system administrator and explain that you need open ports for RTP protocol.
